WELL-FORMULATED OF THESIS STATEMENT

I want to share about how to make good thesis statement in argumentative essay. I get it from LIA because as a HI-4 student, I am obliged to make an argumentative paper. I think the most difficult thing is when make a thesis statement because my teacher told me whether good or not someone's writing is seen from her/ his thesis statement. Before we make thesis statement, we need to choose the topic which will also be interesting to the readers. After choosing the topic, we need to narrow it down so that it will be easy to focus on and easy for the readers to apprehend. The narrowed-down topic usually use as the subject in thesis statement and state the controlling idea. To decide controlling idea, we must consider several aspects: place, time, quality, similarities, differences, a list of things, effect, and cause/reason.Thesis statement usually which contains an opinion, a claim, or a judgment about the narrowed-down topic. A well-formulated thesis statement meets the following criteria:
1. A thesis statement should be expressed in a complete sentence.
2. A thesis statement expresses an opinion, a claim, or a judgment. It does not simply announce the
topic nor does it express merely a fact with no claim.
3. A thesis statement should have only one controlling idea. If it contains two or more ideas, the essay
may lack focus and may confuse the readers.
I hope this posting can give you information about how to make a thesis statement.
